“I think True Detective is having the same problems with music like YJ. The first season of YJ had the tribal yelling soundtrack that really drummed up dread. They could have had in with “Qui” which was whistled, but then that was taken over by “Lightness Crashes”. “Qui” was a lot more interesting. “Magic is Afoot” worked. But “Mother” was funny until Shauna lost the baby. :/ It is fine when people are actually listening to music, like Nat and Kevyn in season one or at a high school reunion…but unless this “Twist and Shout” thing pays off…TD’s music could be heading in the same direction. Either way, good observations and great podcast.”
