“I had to stop listening 15 minutes into the first episode, when one of the hosts, clearly disappointed that he wasn't getting The Further Adventures of Rust and Marty, made two of the most ill-informed criticisms of the show. First, he went super aggro that the writer had just "invented" this town called Vinci that had no basis in reality and didn't exist anywhere in SoCal (he didn't see it when he visited, apparently.) Then he called out the director for "making the Monterrey Peninsula look like it was 15 minutes from downtown LA."
Well, he's just misinformed on both points, as even 15 minutes of even casual Internet research would have shown him: Vinci is based on the very real (and highly similar) industrial town of Vernon, and PCH just a few short miles up the coast from Malibu has the same rocky promontories as its more northern sections.
I could get over the sheer laziness of his review. I could not get over how arrogantly he paraded his ignorance; would you take seriously a review of Chinatown that criticized it for making up the story of the Owens Valley River?
The lesson: don't bother podcasting about shows that you so dislike on principle that you are not even going to do the most basic research about. Say you hate it and just move on.”
