“I really wants to like this podcast series because I am fascinated by the differences between real life events and the film versions that Hollywood produces. However, so far, I have been disappointed. Instead of the discussion focusing primarily on the differences between fact and representation, and offering some interesting back stories to the characters and events, the majority of the time is spent going through the events in the movie and commenting upon them, in a fairly vacuous way without much depth and insight. Sometimes the information about some of the film elements is not even correct. Instead of learning something new and interesting, I am basically eavesdropping on recounts and opinions regarding a film (75%) with a few facts thrown in (25%) when it really should be the other way around. Make the podcast more informative and more academic and really identify the ways in which Hollywood subverts, amalgamates, glosses over, highlights, invents, alters and omits to create entertainment out of real life events.”
