I find Mary Barbera’s podcasts, books, and Facebook trainings invaluable and great resources that I pass on to both parents and other professionals. With that said, I do feel that in general and especially the podcasts, there are so many “I think”, “I remember”, personal stories, etc and frequent interrupting of the person interviewed. It’s more like she listens to respond (usually about something that concerns her as the primary focus) rather than to truly listen and collaborate and validate the persons work and efforts. I felr this strongly in the podcast with Steve award about his games book. She would interrupt him. But the person interviewed continued to speak over her, thankfully. Then because of her own stories he had to rush through the other 4 books he’s published. Just food for thought but she is very knowledgeable—and she knows this!
