This approach is missing out on what these kids are trying to tell us! We should be teaching autistic folks and their families how to read and regulate these “problem behaviors” with healthy coping mechanisms. You are missing out on learning about what the stimming and scripting is telling us about the individual’s sensorimotor and communication needs. Please visit your skilled specialists (e.g. OT, PT, speech, mental health, psych, etc.) to learn about what your child/client is trying to tell you.
