Entertaining but off putting
These guys obviously have great chemistry and some good banter, plus it’s nice to hear dads launching a parenting podcast. But I found the long anecdote about the neighbour who wanted to set up a park playdate super off putting. They start the episode saying they share the pain of parenting but then proceed to sound so cliquey and exclusionary about a dad suggesting to a mum (the host’s wife) that their two 4 year olds play in a park? They said the other mum was there with a newborn and how weird it was that it wasn’t her swapping numbers. Maybe she’s in the thick of newborn life and has asked the dad to take on some of the mental load of planning activities for the elder child? Maybe that family’s new in the area and doesn’t have a community of acquaintances yet? Maybe all their friends are childless and weekend mornings drag by? Maybe they’re having a tough time and being able to have a buddy for their 4 year old would really help them out. You don’t need to become best mates just don’t be a d*ck about it. It takes a village.

Like the title of this review states, I do not have children. But, I absolutely love this podcast. I listen to it on my commute and laugh out loud like an idiot. Not sure if I want kids more or less now… regardless they keep me entertained. Thank you Ash and Marty J.
