1990s Pop Culture in Context
Really excellent show. Jamelle and Jon watch a movie, give a brief plot synopsis, then jump right into the forces / ideas floating around in society that are represented by elements of the movie reviewed (mostly). Unless the movie is total trash in which case they chat about something unrelated (the bad submarine movie). Please note, most of the discussion in these shows is not point by point analysis of the movie. It’s intended as a companion to deconstruct the show to get at interesting currents. Note both Jon and Jamelle talk, so if that bothers you find another podcast. Highly recommend if only for the 90s history lesson.

One of the best film/left wing podcasts I’ve listened to. Does a great job of situating these films in a broader historical national and international context. Really enjoy John and Jamelle’s rapport and analysis.
