“After reading the comments I feel less uncomfortable about mentioning that the investigation is being conducted by a group of people who are too young to do this kind of work and also are confused about the point of this in the first place. So many times they are guessing about what happened factually with technology in the mid 90’s and they talk about it like it was 1890’s. They also have a tendency to get so many details confused during their wrap up discussions and then begin forming their next questions on the very bad remembering of their own interviews. For example they interviewed the ex-boyfriend who described the computer room as mostly empty because he moved out and took his stuff and that she may have had just one, very old, personal computer. This goes against the narrative told by the couple who described the room as full of many newer, high tech, computers (still unclear on those important details) and a wall full of (I’m guessing many stacks of discs or cds—this was never clarified). This seems to be another place where people are describing the environment in opposite ways pre and post death/disappearance (this seems to not be important to them) and these things are critical to nail down if the goal is to understand who she was/is and why this is a story in the first place. Four episodes in and I am still not sure what the purpose of telling this story is. I agree with one of the other comments that says if she really is undercover in some way then this story should address this matter because it could endanger her. Perhaps this is indicative of the fact that the podcast is so flimsy that this won’t be an issue in the end. I’m not impressed by the lack of ethics or the lack of self awareness on the part of the podcast crew. It seems like a great story if it ever gets going but I don’t think it will. I feel bad for her and her family because they don’t seem to care that she was or still is a real person. It’s just a lot of speculation and not much fact checking. I hope it gets better.”
