7. Beneath our feet - From soil to beavers and the art of listening and invisibility, with Marian Boswall
Description
In Episode 7, I’m joined by Marian Boswall, a leading landscape architect and horticulturist whose work has regeneration, connectivity, kinship and kindness at its core.
Through her design practice Marian creates safe havens – from gardens to vast rural landscapes – in partnership with the land and its human and more than human inhabitants. Marian’s beautiful book, Sustainable Garden, was shortlisted for garden book of the year and her new book, The Kindest Garden, will be published in February 2025.
In this episode, Marian shares precious moments and major life events that have shaped her relationship with the natural world and her route to creating sustainable gardens and regenerative landscapes. We explore the immense life force
that exists beneath our feet, what we’ve been doing to the soil, and simple ways that we can take better care of the earth.
We talk about listening, trust and gratitude as foundations for living more in tune with the land and life around us and Marian shares encounters with beavers, bees and so much more. We chat about invisibility as a superpower, too, both in our relationship with the human and more-than-human world.
