I don't always agree with Owen's take on things, but he makes his case well and brings up great points.
Natasha, how old were you when you first read the series? I first read these as a child and re-reading them as an adult was awesome because I found so many more layers of meaning. Really fun since the central question is Dust and daemons settling. A lot of things are "growing up stories" but with HDM the difference between a child and an adult is focused on very intently. I think if I read it first as an adult I wouldn't appreciate that focus nearly as much.
