1 part great, 3 parts irritating
The sections of the show where baseball is discussed is very enjoyable. The sections on subjects where the hosts don't display any expertise (all other topics discussed) are not. Instead one hears a lot of pretentious words (eg "reductive") masking any real careful study, as evidenced by extended rambling. I've listened to every episode so I guess the baseball keeps me coming back, but each week gets a bit more grating, take for example the recent episode where Kevin calls up his mother. She is presented as some kind of Coen Brothers-esque character all while the hosts wink knowingly at the audience and laugh at her obvious lack of baseball knowledge. It doesn't feel good to laugh at someone not in on the joke.

Like the aforementioned Mexican Coke, sometimes it's hard to explain exactly why it's better than similarly-packaged products, but once you try it, you'll be bugging your friends to join the club. Just...Read full review »
