Why the politics?
I used to listen to Upgrade years ago. Then, right before the 2016 US presidential election, Relay ran an add sponsored by Cards Against Humanity that slammed Donald Trump. I don’t like tech podcasts that so blatantly mix in politics so I stopped listening to their shows. It’s interesting that those adds were deleted from the archived shows. I decided recently to give Upgrade another try because I really like Jason Snells commentary on Apple technology and I think Mike Hurley adds a unique perspective as well. I just happened to listen to “It’s Always the Chips” and Mike had to press the point several times about the Mac Pro being assembled the US for US markets, but being assembled in China for European markets. But he didn’t stop there. He had to say that Trump made an issue about it being made in America and that supporters really don’t care what he says. Why the politics? Other podcasts talked about the Mac Pro assembly without getting political at all. The content is typically good on this podcast. I just wish Mike could leave the politics aside.
