Great for a Quick Lay(person)
I’ve got a persistent interest in Philosophy, but I’m a layperson with not a lot of time on my hands. Very Bad Wizards has become one of my favorite podcasts because Tamler and David engage with pretty heady topics with a healthy dose of twisted humor and some great guests. This isn’t a Sunday-morning, do-your-reading-beforehand meeting of minds. It’s a Friday-night, bottle-of-Jack-and-some-assorted-pills discussion between friends. When I listen, I know I’m not likely to experience some breakthrough in moral philosophy, but I know that I’ll be able to engage with the topic at hand and hear some frank, funny, and approachable discussion of it. Highly recommended for people who are interested in Philosophy in a pragmatic and modern, Western way. Less recommended for those who want a primarily academic or introductory approach.

Seriously, this podcast is great. David and Tamler talk informally about social issues, ethics, psychology, philosophy--and often come to deep and moving insights within the conversation. And when they don't, their bickering is still very entertaining. This podcast is sort of my catharsis,...Read full review »
