Description
In episode three of Very Vedic, Matt's student Anna shares a recurring feeling of nostalgia she has for her teenage years, and identifies it's because she had little to no responsibilities. Everything felt fun. Spirituality can feel serious and in some practices, demand a rigid sense of responsibility from us, so Anna asks Matt where fun sits in the Vedic worldview. He shares that for some of us, we can unintentionally pass judgement on other people's unsustainable life choices when we first embark on our spiritual path - our inner world is beautiful but the outer world seems ignorant. He explains this is sometimes referred to as cosmic consciousness blues, and it's actually a hijacking of spiritual advancement by the mistaken intellect because inherent in the deepest of all spiritual teachings, is play. Matt and Anna also discuss the Vedic view on death and grief, explore discipline and addiction, and how doing a sacred practice of sacrifice called tapas can increase our state of consciousness.
