The Missing People Of Gwoza
Listen now
Description
We visit the rocky landscape of Gwoza in southern Borno to speak to people whose loved ones have gone missing. No two stories are exactly the same. Some people were imprisoned by Boko Haram insurgents. Some teachers were abducted from a Qur’anic school, others from a university. Some were arrested by the military as they received treatment at the hospital. Some were captured on their farms or as they escaped to safety.  One thing that doesn’t change in all these stories, however, is how devastated their families have been since their disappearance. This episode of Vestiges of Violence was produced with support from the Open Society Initiative for West Africa. It was scripted by ‘Kunle Adebajo, edited by Ahmad Salkida. Hosted by Hameeda Buhari. Produced by Attahiru Jibrin. Voice acting by: Usman Abba Zanna, Zubaida Baba Ibrahim, Rukayya saeed, Mansir Mohammed, Akila Jibrin, Hafsat Abubakar and Khadija Gidado. Multimedia Editor is Anthony Asemota. The executive producer is Ahmad Salkida. For more stories, go to humanglemedia.com
