Ripping Yarn. Top stuff.
I came across this on Saturday night. It is now Sunday afternoon. I have listened to it twice already, and I will listen again and again with delight and guffaws. That speaks for the excellent quality. Now to the meat of it. There are simply not enough British comedy-drama podcasts out there. It’s a genre Britain does so well in general; dry, ironic humour, sudden drops of dramatic tension. Why has the podverse not caught afire with it?! For this example, my pretty, burns, oh, so very bright, indeed. How to describe it? Try electro-steam-punk. An alternative universe where Victorian London sprawls as far as Oxford, subsuming all within its encroaching embrace. Run on radiated Tesla-style electricity, ruled by a clockwork cyborg of a queen, menaced by threats from deep within its corridors of power, annoyed by over-charging, over-chatty cab drivers. A detective, a journalist, a murder mystery that could topple Parliament.

More reviews of Victoriocity
Victoriocity is like the bonkers love child of Wilkie Collins, Arthur Conan Doyle and Douglas Adams. I enjoyed every second of it!
