Description
Children Series Title :  Vivekananda - A glimpse into his Life and Message  Swami Vivekananda (1863–1902) was a monk of the masses and an intense patriot. His life and message had profound implications for India and the world at large. He was the chief disciple of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa (1836–1886), regarded as a great saint of modern India. An illumined soul on par with the Buddha, Vivekananda travelled the length and breadth of India, observed her impoverished state, and resolved, while meditating ‘on the last bit of Indian rock’ at Kanyakumari, to ameliorate her condition. Subsequently, he represented Hinduism at the Parliament of Religions held at Chicago in 1893 and opened the spiritual floodgates of Vedanta to the West, liberating the Western mind from narrow religious doctrines and dogmas. On return to India in 1897, he started Ramakrishna Math and Mission with the twin ideals of renunciation and service to uplift the nation. He was only thirty-nine years, five months and twenty-four days when he passed away in 1902. This podcast contains inspiring incidents from Swami Vivekananda's life and relevant teachings from the incidents in Swamiji's own words from the book Vivekananda: A Glimpse into His Life and Message by Swami Srikantananda. The incidents and teachings will surely help in moulding one's life for a higher cause—for one's own enlightenment and for serving others.          Narrator :  Manasa Venkataramanan Book Name : Vivekananda - A glimpse into his Life and Message Publisher: Adhyaksha Ramakrishna Math, Hyderabad
