It says that those who follow the Garuda Purana's teachings achieve successful lives and find a place at the divine feet of Shrihari Vishnu even after death. The text also emphasizes that those who perform benevolent deeds attain salvation in the afterlife, while those who commit wicked acts are consigned to hell and subjected to various torments. The Garuda Purana also states that for seven days, the soul moves about its places of interest, such as its favorite joint, morning walk garden, or office. For example, if the soul is possessive of its money, it will stay near its cupboard, or if it is possessive of its children, it will just be in their room, clinging on to them. It is believed that Agni acts as a messenger, carrying the soul from the mortal realm back to its origin in the earth, thus facilitating its onward journey.
