“I’ve killed bears with 30-06, 308, and 9mm. The only bear that ran off never to be found was from a 180 grain core lokt from the 06 to the sternum as he was standing up to me. The 9mm quickly killed a 250 pound bear at 50 yards. I could easily make a conflated summary like 9mm is a better bear cartridge than 30-06 but that would be misleading despite my personal DRT % for each cartridge. I conduct an autopsy on every animal I kill. What do I use on bear now? An AR-10 or a Ruger American chambered in 308, loaded with factory Barnes 150 ttsx. They work famously on elk as well. Good choice, Ryan. If you need another gel test, when your gel is still thick liquid, set up a scapula inside the block, once it sets up, shoot one ttsx only through all gel, then shoot another through the scapula! Bone shrapnel can be a weapon of its own. Excellent podcast.”
