History of the Modern Middle East, Columbia U.
So useful for a survey of the area. I'd recommend it to others who, like me, are starting with a sketchy grasp of the subject. Two suggestions to the professor and the producer: Professor Bulliet, don't say 'uh' unless you mean it. You say it at least once in every sentence. That's mean to your listeners and unfair to your good thinking. That said, please come to Chicago and let the Columbia Alumni Club invite you for an evening. Recordist, get better audio. With modern tiny digital recorders, you can have him wear a recorder and not have to publish echoey audio. I've listened to three lectures, including listening to the 19th century one twice. I can't wait to hear the rest, even though I had those small and fixable issues.
