Ignorant Podcasters
These guys have no idea what they’re talking about. I listened to their F-35 podcast and was instantly turned off by their complete ignorance of aviation and aerospace. They say the f-35 is a badly designed aircraft, they provide zero facts or specifics, keep harping on the gun and the helmet. 1. F-35B Gun Non-operational - F-35B is operational and doesn’t have an internal gun. The A variant is the only variant with a gun. The F-35A is not operational yet, carries more ammunition than Rafale, Sukhoi, and Eurofighter. No significant issue with gun, they’re just working on the software. F-35B has an optional externally mounted gun. 2. The F-35A can carry 2000 pounds more bombs than the A-10 (externally mounted). Can carry two 2000 pound bombs internally in stealth configuration. There is no issue with payload capacity. 3. The F-35A and F-35C were designed before the F-35B. 4. The F-16 vs F-35 dogfight was conducted with one of the earliest f-35 test planes and the F-35 didn’t have its off bore sight missile targeting system. Pilot doesn’t have to look behind him, he just hits a button on the stick and can see behind him in his helmet. 5. One trillion dollars for a 2,400+ stealth fighters plus research and developement cost is a deal. The per unit cost of the F-35A is less than the eurofighter and Rafale when all is said and done. 6. F-22 had 2 engine failures since 2002. F-35 has one after a few years of testing, big deal. Research engine reliability of Russian and Chinese aircraft and gain some perspective. 7. Yes, F-35 has technical problems, it’s a very publicly visible project, do some research on previous aircraft development problems and gain some perspective.
