There are more facets of WOW
Hi Bob, I am listening to your show from the beginning, as well as some other Podcasts which are covering WOW Classic or WOW at all. Like “Countdown to…”, “Warcraft Brew”, “The Instance” and “Good Morning Azeroth”. I enjoy them all, as I understand they tell the story out of their perspective and it is very interesting and amusing to listen to them playing my game so differently than I do. Even if some are more as a kind of “Talkshow” than actually telling things and facts out of WOW. Last show of you, together with Defcamp, I was not so amused with your dismissal of all the other perspectives of the game. I believe WOW has many facets to it, you can be primarily a Raider and PVP-Player, as you are obviously, you can enjoy the levelling, the adventure and exploration, the professions and the small communities in the game. You can work the auction house or do whatever you want to. Also some people love to play more in the endgame, others do it in the level areas. Some love the server to be packed and some want to have space to live their adventures and quests. As I enjoy to hear of your way of playing the game, I am surprised how dismissive you are about many of the other ways. At least in your last podcast, together with Defcamp. This means comments like “Raiding is too easy for everybody” or “that you pity the people of small servers” and also the way you want to solve many issues. You only take into account your server and the situation on the server of Defcamp. This seems to be very one sided. To help you to understand my issue, I would like to tell you how I and many of my friends are playing the game. Usually we play somewhere between 10 – 15 hours a week. Of this time we play half of the time together as a group and do all kinds of dungeons with 5 – 10 people. In all ranges of our alts. The rest of the time we do our quests, farm mats and do our professions. We explore areas of the world we do not know, including quests and this also across factions. Sometimes, once or twice a month, we join together with a local guild and play raids BWL, MC, Zul or now AQ. Last but not least we do roleplay and interaction with the server community. I am also playing around with some multi-boxing, just because I like the technical aspect. And we enjoy mostly the content for small groups and single/duo–stuff in all level brackets. So for us we obviously see things a lot different then you guys and girls. We do not need to hurry to every new content, we have still so much to do in the little playtime we have. We play on a RP-PVE–Server, we do not really care about Horde-Alliance Ratio (Here we have 25% - 75%). We want our server to progress directly to TBC and do not want to have to transfer. Why should everybody transfer, because some servers are having problems? Allow them, with the problems to freely transfer to other servers, but do not force everybody to do it, because some have an issue… Surely every server has their advantages and disadvantages. On a small server, you may have less stuff in the auction house and have to wait longer for some new content. You may have to work more to find players to do content with and you do not see so many people at the same time. Or you do not have so many World-Buff drops. And you have bots farming open world to transfer to high- pop servers. But you can still go out and farm what you need, because there are still many resources available, you can have a small and very friendly community, you can really have a life in the open world. You can also enjoy the world and nobody cares about the Min/Max – mentality. Everybody talks about the “problem” of the World Buffs, but they still do get them all the time… As a positive exception, I see Kargoz. Kargoz did a good thing. He figured out what he liked and made the game for him in this way. I also enjoy the levelling and playing Alts. I have four Level 60s and all the other slots full with Alts. But I would never do a Hardcore-Character. I get too attached and have too little time to delete my playtime. Just to explain my point. I like your show, I like the stuff you talk about and it is interesting to see the way you play the same game so differently. But you should please not make the assumption that everybody is doing it the way you do it or judge other ways of playing. I look forward to much more stories and ideas you have and I am truly enjoying the show. Sorry for the “issue” and please do not take this too strong, but I thought I want to share my thoughts. Keep up the good work. Best Regards Wiwicas P.S. Excuse my inability to describe all my thoughts in a more eloquent English, but sometimes I am missing the vocabulary to distinguish my thoughts more precisely.

I stopped playing just before Naxx dropped in Classic but have continued to listen to every episode of this amazing show. Love the show, have been listening for quite a while. Definitely helps on those long commutes. It’s great to hear about things going happening on my own server...even though I’m on horde. Side note...instead of one “to be fair” per person, we should make it one per episode. This could get...Read full review »
