“I’ve been an off-and-on follower of Waypoint Radio since the heady days of Episode 40 or whatever that oddly specific episode that other reviewer cited was. I think its current iteration may be the best it’s ever been. I have absolutely no interest in most of the games that Rob and Ren play and yet I’ve rarely been as compelled as I am by their accounts of whatever civil war strategy/Silent Hill tribute game they’ve been playing lately. Keep up the good work!
A question: you’ll probably not have seen Great British Menu - though fans of Great British Bake Off may enjoy it - but the essential premise is that high level chefs compete to create themed dishes within a four course menu, with the winning dishes ultimately being served at a banquet for honoured guests. Sometimes the connection to the brief is tenuous, sometimes it’s overt. For example, the most recent series - the overarching theme being British animation and illustration - has had the extremes of both a slapped together dessert with an edible Super Ted sticker pasted onto it and a gigantic, carve-it-yourself wellington in an incredible approximation of a crocodile as drawn by Quentin Blake. If you were tasked with creating a dish on the theme of videogames, which game would you choose and how would your dish (starter, fish, main or dessert) pay tribute to it?
