“When podcasts first came out I didn’t really “get” them. I think I’d previously listened to, like, 5...if that. I heard about this one as I follow Gemma on Instagram so I thought I’d see what the podcast fuss was about. Oh. My. Goodness. I am converted! Just to this podcast mind...
I think it’s partly because, like a lot of people, I end up replying to Gemma and Kate while they’re speaking, way-too-enthusiastically yelling out “same!” “Me too!” “Exactly!” But I think it’s mainly because they’ve absolutely achieved what they set out to do right from the start: I remember them saying in the trailer or episode 1 that they wanted the podcast to feel like you’re hanging out with your best friends and it absolutely does feel like that. I think lockdown has also heightened this because it simulates the best-friend-vibe we can’t fully experience with our besties at the moment. Like the absolute magic moments for me are when Kate and Gem send one another into hysterics because there is a type of laugh you only do with your bestests and it just makes my heart smile and makes me miss and feel grateful for my bffs (who I hope I can hang out with soon!). And then the icing on the cake for me is the funny kid anecdotes - I have cried SO HARD with laughter so many times listening!
I have recommended this to so many of my friends that I’ve had to stop, as I’ve realised I’m being that annoying person who’s super pumped for something and wants everyone else to be on their bandwagon too! But if the 5 stars hasn’t fully expressed my love and appreciation for this podcast then surely the fact I’ve had to split a review into paragraphs does!
Thank you, Gemma and Kate, for the good vibes we didn’t expect to get in the midst of a p-word!
PS. I saw a comment earlier on Instagram from someone asking for daily episodes - I am seconding that (but obvs appreciate you, quite literally, don’t have time for that)!”
