A Story We Need
The specifics of Rachel’s story, the whole one starting with her parents in her earliest days, are so unique that I can’t relate to them. Very little of her life was like mine. At the same time, the universal struggle of finding a voice and a place inside or away from your family, the way relationships change, and especially how COVID slashed some tenuous ties are universal. Calling out plainly how our “non system” of healthcare played a role in the decisions people made and make in the face of uncertainty is as damming as it should be.
