“People leaving negative reviews seem like they wanted this to be true crime but other recent seasons of Serial like Nice White Parents and The Trojan Horse Affair have departed from that significantly.
There’s something understated about this series that feels like even more of a departure. It wouldn’t have sustained 6 episodes and it isn’t a story on a grand scale but it’s emotional and timely and empathetic - a chronicle of familial love under extreme circumstances with no easy answers but a lot to think about.”
