Thought provoking and fascinating.
As someone who left the Military in 99, its fascinating to see how we have evolved, and where the current mindset is. I thought the episode from General David Petraeus was exceptional, although a bitter pill and reality check that we are now just a very minor (albeit useful) player with minimal mass, in an increasingly technologically complex and expensive world. It would be interesting to hear more discussion around sovereign or non US partner capability to see if we are now 100% dependant on the US to plug our capability gaps. Or if there are complex potential short-term threats where we could operate alone or use non US Allies to provide a realistic strategic solution. All the guests have been superb. Only minor critque, the host can sometimes over elaborate points in response, making a great point that the guest could come back on, but keeps talking and steers in a new direction meaning the point is lost. Someone else mentioned there is a lot of agreeing and can sometimes seem like an echo chamber. Maybe a guest that could really challenge the hosts beliefs with some thought provoking argument? But 5/5 highly recommended and look forward to each episode, keep up the good work. Steve Richardson

Recent episodes have been decent. However, care should be taken to ensure the openly-stated technophobia of the host does not disproportionately skew the nature of discussion. Separate, but linked, the host should take care not to be implicitly pejorative of the contemporary military profession....Read full review »
