Curiouser and Curiouser
This episode was fascinating for me from start to end. I spent some time thinking about many of the topics that came up in this episode which were: honoring the full breadth of the human experience, assessing how we treat people that are different (eccentric, unique) how to live knowing you will never be accepted by institutions, how we amor ourselves, what is it to reconnect with our bodies, how energy is expressed in our relationships and expressed sexually as well as the hidden aspects of the body within the life we live. Connecting the occult (practices) directly to theories of the body and pulsation (located near 1:08 and 1:11) and the “work” that can benefit us as we engage in our lives via our practices. It’s rare that I hear people discussing occult, sex, life, repression and the connections to psychoanalysis (with such depth) highlighting the importance of the emotional work in order to engage and live fully within your emotional life. Doug and Dan did an excellent job of not only highlighting the compelling life (lives) of Rilke but also diving into the self and the critical aspects of the body, emotions and energy. And we also get into cloud busting and orgasms!!! What else do you need people??

Doug is like the Ira Glass of magical podcasting. He delivers this provocative content with the most soothing style that gets you to swallow some very, very dark stuff and come crawling back to lick the spoon. And, he’s already read everything, so you don’t have to! New episodes make my day!

WMiT presents a personable, accessible look at a range of esoteric topics. Douglas is a great host, with a deep and evident interest in the topic of each episode. This podcast is both informative and entertaining.

If you’re looking for a podcast about spirituality and philosophies of consciousness (and the occult, obviously) that is informative, accessible and not too culty or woo-woo, this may be exactly what you’re looking for, because I was looking for that and I am pleased with what I found.
