Challenging one’s mindset
What makes this podcast interesting is that it gives the listener an insight into the values and perspectives of the speaker, which might be totally opposite and alien to one’s own beliefs. We should all be challenging ourselves to appreciate others’ opinions without necessarily agreeing with them. However I found myself agreeing with Neil Oliver 100%, perhaps because I have a lifelong interest in history and this yields an appreciation of the vast improvements in the human condition which we enjoy today without having to endure the hardships suffered by past generations. I now intend to write my very own 500 word essay as an exercise in self-cognition!
