Have you ever thought of being a counselor?
I just stumbled across your new podcast, and I listened to your first episode with Dwayne Johnson. Wow, that man is surely impressive. However, what was more impressive to me was you. As a counselor for 30 years, I know that asking the right questions is paramount if you really want to help someone and get beyond their external layers. To really understand what makes someone tick and what’s really going on with them you have to get through layers before you reach the core of who they really are. If someone allows you to get there, it is a wonderful gift and it means that they trust you enough to let you see their vulnerability. We typically all have a part of us that we don’t let everybody see. There are a million questions we can ask of someone in an effort to understand who they are at the core. However, narrowing down those questions to the ones that will be the most valuable to the client and give you the information that will help you work with them is truly an art. More importantly, how you ask the questions can make a huge difference in whether you get a genuine response. Questions that come from a true place of interest, compassion, and empathy will always yield the most honest responses. I’m a firm believer that not everyone can do this . As a matter of fact, I really believe that you have to be born with that ability because I don’t see it as something that can be created. This art is something that comes from the core of who you are. While I was listening to you, I heard evidence of all the above. Your compassion, empathy and genuine interest shines bright through the words you use. Have you ever thought of being a counselor? I’m telling you, you have a natural ability to connect with people way beyond a surface level. In my opinion, everything you did during this podcast was on target. Based on how he answered your questions, he seem to be quite comfortable with you, and willing to let you see the person he really is. I just want to tell you great job. I wish you great success with this podcast. You already have a fan in me after just one episode. I will be checking out your future episodes for sure.
