The U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command’s Army Research Laboratory has several research programs it deems essential for future Soldier capabilities. Of these major  programs, the Artificial Intelligence for Maneuver and Mobility Essential Research Program endeavors to reduce Soldier distractions on the battlefield through the integration of autonomous systems in Army vehicles.
