Love it. But slightly inaccurate
I love that he is making art history more accessible, but there is an inaccuracy in the Raphael episode, he comments that the pope asked for Greek gods to be painted… and commented why he didn’t know why a pope would want the Greek pantheon painted - in kind of a snarky way. Which actually totally shows a lack of knowledge in the period of which speaking. The Greek gods were portrayed during the renaissance for a couple of reasons which include allegory, humanism, and syncretism. And I totally get that they’re trying to make this accessible to the masses… and those topics aren’t exactly easy to distill in less than 11 minutes. But the sentiment is incorrect and misleading. And as an art historian affects his credibility with me.

As an art teacher, I can appreciate how he goes a little deeper than a wiki search, adding a lot of color and variety to his information. ...Read full review »

I can forgive a lot of personality quirks of a host if they’re funny or insightful. But when you’re just a snob, it becomes a real drag to listen to.
