“As a musician with an interest in comedy, I used to see Joe perform a live late night talk show at Improv Olympic in Chicago back in the day. I recently stumbled upon this podcast and discovered that Joe’s a comedian with a deep interest and knowledge in music. I’ve been reeled in. His bashful demeanor re: his obsessive focus on the Rock Hall is a really fun counterpoint to Kristen’s “oh F that!” reaction to the lamer elements of this institution. I, like Joe, also absorb knowledge on rock history and am somewhat embarrassed about the amount of relatively useless factoids I carry with me. It’s great to hear a kindred spirit—a very funny one—also grumble at what our brains make us pour over despite our will to be cooler than this. Kristen, is a needed bucket of cold water on our goofy obsession and the largely unquestioned imbalance of white old man rock being the foundation of the hall. She’s a critical voice with a surprising knowledge and acumen of rock music and artists without ever having obsessed with the genre and the Hall. I’ve checked a few recent episodes and am sold and am now starting from the beginning. I’m learning something each episode in between the laughs. An informative and entertaining podcast that will leave you with a list of tunes you’ll want to go listen to after each episode.”
