JFK
I was 20 years old when the voice on TV said “ we interrupt our scheduled programming to bring you this breaking news” President John F Kennedy has been shot in Dallas, TX. Moments later the voice again said the words none of us wanted to hear. “ President John F Kennedy has died” I truly believe that on that day the country lost its innocence. I believe the country & indeed the World went into mourning. John F Kennedy was a man who the World fell in love with. The days of innocence were for ever were gone & we, somehow managed to drag ourselves through life & never realized how we were effected by the assassination until a day came when I suddenly seemed to come out of mourning. The day Barack Obama was elected by America as President Of The United States. It seemed like a big weight had lifted. I wondered, “ have I been in mourning all these years”? 60 years later I remember that horrid day as if it just happened yesterday when Camelot ceased to exist.
