Description
I recently came across a book, entitled “Second Class Professor”. (http://bookstore.authorhouse.com/AdvancedSearch/Default.aspx?SearchTerm=angela+hurd) This book was a real eye opener for me. “Second Class Professor” exposes the issue of the use and abuse of adjunct professors in the United States. I was shocked to read that 70-85% of all professors in both community and four year colleges, are adjunct professors. After reading the book, I felt that this information was important for you to know as parents, especially if you’ll soon be paying for your child’s college education. I’ve invited my guest, Angela Hurd, (https://www.facebook.com/secondclassprofessor) to join my conversation. Angela is the author of “Second Class Professor: Who is teaching our students? What you need to know if you’re paying for college”. Angela (https://www.linkedin.com/pub/angela-hurd/27/640/b99)has taught college courses for 16 years at both 2 and 4-year universities and colleges. She has taught in private and state colleges and for-profit schools as well. She is a certified tutor and a frequent guest speaker to local debate teams. She judges high school debate and is occasionally called upon to review local theater presentations. You won’t want to miss our conversation!
