Not for beginners
This is a great podcast for fans of Zizek to get deeper into his influences, especially Hegel and Lacan, and indulge some more in his trademark strategy of using pop culture to illustrate theory... Ryan and Todd are great at using common language to describe abstruse notions. If there is a flaw here it’s that they don’t always bother to do this, sometimes devolving into academic shop talk and forgetting the lay audience. I think this podcast is ideal for people who have an intermediate understanding of the topics that are covered— otherwise you will too often feel thrown into the deep end of the pool, having to pause the podcast constantly to look up different terms or ideas.
