“As a recent widow (December 2020) after 43 years of marriage,
since my husband passed the past few weeks have been challenging.
My husband had been ill for the past year and a half, and was slowly declining although we didn’t see it at the time. Well maybe he did, but I always thought he would get better.
When he passed a week before Christmas, it was a crushing blow to our family. We got through Christmas somehow, and helped each other along. My husband was a European trained Chef and both our sons love to cook. I mean - Love to cook! Me, not so much. But I am learning, at my late stage, to put together acceptable meals. Along with many other things I have to learn about that he always took care of, as many widows experience.
In any case, in the New Year I realized I was feeling very sad about his passing and my loss. I needed a boost, and am happy to say I found it with Joann’s podcast. I started searching under Grief and Widows and there it was. Now several weeks on, I listen to one or two each day. Widow cast has validated my feelings, and helped me find the resolve and strength to carry on through the sad times. There will be light and some happiness again in my life.
Thank you Joann, for all you do for this “community of widows” whom you are helping so much.
Be well, Stay strong,
Susan
