“People always say to me,”No one is actually FROM L.A.” I am. I grew up in a one room duplex in Glendale… where my Mom gave my sister and I the only bedroom to share. She slept on a fold out couch (you could feel the bar through) in the “living room”. We slept on these mini fold out foam-couch-chairs, that, in retrospect we’re more like video game chairs. I’m not Latino, but being a poor family in L.A. with a single mother working in a Catholic School so we could get a good education… I just bawled at the beautiful idea of giving my past mother/family that gift. Thanks for the beautiful podcast. You made me cry like a baby.”
