The truth!
When I was five years old, in 1973, I was already a reader. My kindergarten teacher gifted me with a copy of Big Woods. A big book! With chapters! And the girl’s name is Laura, like mine! The yellow box set became mine eventually. Of course as I grew, I learned that no, I couldn’t move the books from fiction in my school library. And as a young preteen, I got hold of more books and biographies and understood Laura wrote for children without traumatizing them. This podcast digs deeper, looking at historical events such as locusts and hard winters, Pa’s state of mind, and should Laura get all the credit for authorship? Highly recommend.
