Description
Chis Miller is joined by 3 prominent local sports figures: Mystics guard Natasha Cloud, Wizards center Ian Mahinmi and University of Maryland Head Football Coach Mike Locksley. The American way of life changed on May 25 with the murder of George Floyd. Since then, we've seen people across the country protesting and bringing to light the social injustices that exist - particularly in communities of color. Athletes have taken up the cause as well - with many using their platforms to help push for substantive change. This podcast is a first in a series of conversations with sports figures who have ties to the DMV. In this episode, Cloud shares the reasons why she's giving up the 2020 season to focus on enacting social change; Mahimni talks about the lasting impact of Floyd's murder and how the NBA will continue the movement, and Locksley reveals how he's using this as a teaching moment for his players.
