“During college I followed the WNBA during its first two or three seasons and became a big fan of the unstoppable Cynthia Cooper. Then life took over and I lost track of the game. At the start of the 2021 season, with my nine year old daughter at my side, I vowed to find a team and follow professional women’s basketball anew. After listening to your preseason podcasts I took a flyer on the Liberty. The result: I haven’t been this excited about any team in any sport since I was a teenager. Not since Don Mattingly retired over 25 years ago has a player entered my sports fan heart like Betnijah Laney. Thank you all for helping to shepherd this newfound joy into my life. The fun over expectation quotient couldn’t be higher.
