Jonathan was born in Sydney, spent his formative years in Launceston Tasmania and then moved to Melbourne to attend university when he was 18. After pondering careers in psychology, acting, writing or photography he settled on photography, but over the last few years he has also taken up writing. This has culminated in his newly released book titled The Boy in the Dress which is a deeply personal account of a possible gay hate crime involving a family member in 1944.
