Lisa Daniel’s guest on this episode of Word for Word is Bert Murphy. Bert grew up in small town Victoria where he discovered movies on TV as a young kid. This began a lifelong love affair with both film and photography. After graduating from Swinburne Film and Television School, Bert worked as an editor and director on a variety of projects such as ‘Voyage of the Southern Sun’ (2017) and ‘Defiant Lives’ (2017). He has also directing and edited corporate, broadcast TV, music video, short films, and pilots. Rob has been a senior projectionist at the Sun Theatre in Yarraville for over 20 years and in 2015 he led the team that found, restored and installed the 70mm projector needed for the Ultra Panavision roadshow release of Quentin Tarantino’s, ‘The Hateful Eight’. His latest documentary, Splice Here: A Projected Odyssey, is a love story to the art of cinema.
