“After only one episode I’m not quite ready to give it 5 stars but I will say this:
As a liberal I’ve been attempting to find intelligent, respectful content that will help to keep me out of my own left-leaning echo chamber. I can tell you, it’s hard to come by. I tried an episode or two of Ben Shapiro after hearing him on an episode of The Waking Up Podcast with Sam Harris. On Sam’s podcast, Ben sounded thoughtful, reasonable, and open. On his own, my perception was he felt compelled to talk loud and fast - as if he has to blow his opinions past everyone as quickly and as loudly as possible so as to prevent anyone from absorbing them. I hate being yelled at - especially by someone as self-righteous as Ben seems in his own podcast.
This one was refreshing. Since before the 2016 election I have been paying attention to the conservative voices of Steve Schmidt and Nicole Wallace, both intelligent, reasonable, thoughtful, and caring people. They care about this country and its people. I think Steve’s concerns about the direction the country is moving are valid and I’m more than interested in hearing thoughtful proposals on how to move through this time and rebuild (assuming we can move through it and don’t get stuck here). I know Nicole already has a show on MSNBC that I typically miss due to its broadcast schedule, so I’m delighted to be able to rely on hearing Steve’s contributions in this format.
I know there must be both conservatives and liberals out there who can put their love of country and humanity above their party or their party’s perceived leader. I sincerely hope this podcast will help me discover more of those kind of people with a conservative outlook and maybe even identify some with a more liberal bent with whom to dialogue because I agree wholeheartedly that the words we use in our dialogue really do matter.”
