Description
Chad Briggs, Air University – United States Air Force, GlobalINT LLC presents 'Abrupt environmental changes: Scenario planning for catastrophic security risks'. He explores the role of strategic foresight and scenario planning as a tool for effective risk management and regulation. In his view, by addressing plausible scenarios in advance, reactions can be better adjusted and certain resources mustered beforehand. He highlights as well that the inclusion of geophysical risks into operational and strategic planning can be done with the correct risk frameworks, leading to the avoidance of costly, ad hoc reactions in the future. 1st HEC workshop on regulation. Emergency regulation under the thread of a catastrophe: a hard look at the volcanic ash crisis. A conference organised by Alberto Alemanno, HEC Paris. 10 & 11 november 2010.
