Overtly negative podcast with unfair comparisons of retro games
I have listened to three episodes, and am writing this review after listening to the FF7 episode. I found the two hosts extremely frustrating to listen to as they constantly make comparisons of games based on “today’s standards”. They constantly refer to mechanics being poor based on “today’s standards”. Every episode I have listened to has been overtly negative based almost entirely on comparison with “today’s standards”. In this particular FF7 episode they’ve said that the ore rendered backgrounds are bad based on today’s standards, it’s bad that the X button is the cancel button, the materia system is bad because it’s apparently too complicated, the character visuals in a ps1 game, in 1997, are bad. The lack of hand holding is hand. The cutscenes are bad. Everything is bad. All the episodes, at least the ones I’ve listened to follow this theme. It’s just simply not enjoyable to listen to two people constantly be overly negative about everything while comparing games to modern day systems rather than comparing games to similar games from the time period. Poor overall, but two stars for the effort put into the podcast.

I really like this podcast. Just about everything about it and the way they structure their topics of games. However what gets me is dans annoying laugh. Is he trying to be that corny villain in movies with that laugh. It’s awful. Jordan’s that guy who has to say a game isn’t good or he doesn’t...Read full review »
