MARIANNA REFORM SCHOOL In recent years, searches using ground-penetrating radar have discovered dozens of unmarked graves on school grounds. By late 2014, researchers have recovered the remains of fifty-five African-American boys. For decades the school remained segregated; blacks were not buried with whites. Thirty-one other boys are buried in a small cemetery, the only marked graves on the property.
