They talk about themselves more than they teach.
If I had to take a sip of Bud Light every time I heard the word “I” on this podcast, the coroners would be zipping me up within 10 minutes. It’s almost as if this podcast would assume you were extremely familiar with the host’s entire bibliographies with how much they talk about themselves and their own books. On this podcast, practical advice is replaced with 10,000 ft view platitudes and unhelpful anecdotes about puppeteering and illustration. The incessant self back patting starts to wear on your nerves. A recurring segment is the “book of the week” segment, occasionally highlighting books and short stories they themselves have written. Nuggets of helpful information can be gleaned from episodes featuring guests, and I suggest you skip to those. I offer as an alternative to anyone wanting to learn more about improving their writing, the practical, focused and well written podcast “Helping Writer’s Become Authors” by K M Weiland.

This is my favorite podcast to learn about the craft of writing. I love hearing about the writing process from multiple perspectives and how each podcast ends with a writing prompt.
