“So nourishing. Lately this has been my chosen source for good deep dives. I discovered these podcasts last month after following the Good Fire indigenous wildfire practice podcasts Matt co-hosts (those are also amazing). I took him up on his invitation there that if I liked Good Fire, I’d love Your Forest as well. I’m an urban, Gen X American, a conservation-minded recreationist who values the outdoors for spiritual and ecological and recreational reasons - so coming over to studying Forestry and related perspectives wasn’t a natural pairing but I wanted to give it a go out of acknowledgment of the possibility of learning from those responsible for managing forests and associated disciplines. I’ve been surprised by the deep conversations, delighted with the breadth and diversity of this show, the consistent good nature and attention of its host, and struck by how many topics are touched upon and integrated into the podcasts. Highly recommend all of these - after having checked out a couple dozen I’ve just bailed on one ; and for all the others enjoyed sticking around for the full episode, whether it’s women in the woods, leadership and practicing presence in natural resources, addressing First Nations trauma around residential schools, glyphosate impacts on biodiversity or the excellent leaps into philosophy and the study of old growth in BC. So highly recommend.”
