“This is such an important topic for people to understand and the host does a fantastic job keeping the story moving at an interesting pace.
My spouse is was hooked on fentanyl as part of his pain management for a horrible cancer treatment. He’s a smaller guy and was jacked up to 175 mg when he was fighting for his life in the hospital.
We are really really lucky because he made it to the other side but he said the withdrawal of coming of the drugs was harder than the treatments he was endured, and it was the first time he understood how addiction can pull you under.
Soapbox - that stuff is nasty and he was given opioids to help him wean, which created other problems. We’ve never smoked pot but in the situation he was in considered relocating to state where it was legal to try it as the first step in pain management instead of these horrifically addictive drugs. There is an underbelly of evil in the US as drug manufacturers are rewarded for profit at the expense of people’s lives. It needs to stop. No one is immune - but if we had his cancer treatment to do over again we wouldn’t have touched fentanyl with a 10’ pole.”
